FROM SCOTT BRUNOW: Cask No. 36.221 Meaty mirepoix

"This 15-year Speyside from a first-fill ex-bodega PX hogshead is liquid gold. Memories of slow simmered roast in a tomato red wine sauce stock full of veggies comes to mind! After grazing on the stew, follow it with some hot chocolate fudge brownie. Distillery 36 and sherry go together like frosting and cake. Don’t miss out on this fantastic example of our Deep Rich and Dried Fruits flavour profile."

"After many years tasting thousands of drams from distillers all over the world, I've finally reached the point where this is what I desire most: a pure, unadulterated Highland whisky matured for 25 years in a single refill ex-bourbon hogshead. It's the perfect marriage between nature and mankind, spirit and oak with a subtle, approachable waft of mainland peat smoke. Don't get me wrong, I love exploring new and unique styles. But as the seasons change and we approach peak whisky weather, I just want a proper old-school dram that offers a great experience at a great price. And mark my words, it does not get better than this."

"I had the pleasure of tasting this gorgeous cask at The Gathering event in New York City. The heavily peated malt spent 5 years in bourbon cask and 5 years in Oloroso cask and the thing that strikes me is the BALANCE. Sherry and smoke intertwine perfectly for a beautiful sipping whisky.
