A bouquet of aromas ranging from orange blossom to dulce de leche and finally warm raisin bread with butter pudding surprised us all. On the palate neat sticky toffee pudding in a port toffee sauce and a selection of nutty chocolate pralines filled with fruit liqueurs. After reduction, an elegant scent of cantaloupe melon with Serrano ham and tawny port emerged while the taste was that of doughnuts (called Berliner in Germany) filled with strawberry jam and a liberal dash of strawberry liqueur, all washed down with a red Berliner Weisse beer (with a shot of raspberry syrup). After thirteen years in an ex-bourbon hogshead, we transferred this whisky into a 1st fill American oak PX Sherry hogshead.
