Comforting aromas which we associated with clootie dumplings, sticky toffee pudding, butterscotch, marzipan and orange oil filled the air. Thick and mouthcoating like cherry jam for grown-ups with the addition of dark beer, brandy and just a hint of red-hot chilli peppers. After reduction, the cherries were in the form of a liqueur probably poured over a dark chocolate mousse. On the palate now rum and raisin fudge accompanied by hot chocolate with marshmallows and cream which gave us that comfy, cosy and fuzzy feeling. After nine years in an ex-bourbon hogshead, we transferred this whisky into a 1st fill Oloroso hogshead.
