Tangly, tingly, tasty, zesty

The initial nose had fruity boiled sweets, vanilla ice-cream, apple strudel and synthetic banana, developing perfume and bitter orange. We found a pleasantly viscous mouth-feel, tangy, zesty citrus flavours (grapefruit, lemon, lime) and some bitter, but enjoyable woody notes (tree bark, root ginger). The reduced nose grew more tropical (melon, unripe mango, pineapple, lemon, lime, grapefruit – one panellist got a piña colada with cocktail cherry); plus Turkish Delight, wine gums and flat-pack pine furniture. The palate was now a more balanced playful tingle of bitter-sweet flavours – coconut, vanilla and barley sugars, with a ginger, orange and twig chewing tannic finish.
