The nose has a stately home vibe – golden meringues, Crunchie bars, syrup sponge and custard; polished wood furniture, fruit baskets and flower vases. The palate has Demerara and treacle toffee with a warm spice glow and tingly fizz on the aftertaste (cinnamon-flavoured latte, peppercorns, Lucozade). The reduced nose gets an expensive box of candies, sweet apples, orange blossom, candied ginger, dried flowers and aromatic wood. The palate is now like a Christmas morning treat – deliciously sweet chocolates and candy canes against a warm, gentle backdrop of cinnamon, nutmeg and clove. Transferred into new oak after fourteen years in ex-bourbon wood.
