Leafy, lemony and lovely
Speyside, Lossie
The nose was leafy and sweet, complex and lovely – herbs, elderflower, pears, rhubarb, foamy bananas, pink wafers, lemon and ginger tea, liquorice and mature oak. The palate’s pleasing acidity included brambles, Tangfastics, lemon meringue pie and lime sorbet; also ginger and cumin spice, oaky flavours and chewy sweetness to round it off. The reduced nose offered crushed nettles, green hops, rosemary, thyme, unripe banana and peppermint – with Refreshers, sherbet lemons and buttered popcorn sweetness. The palate now had oat biscuits dipped in lemon icing and a finish that was delightfully lip-smacking and citric – pineapple and passion fruit sorbet, orange zest, tarragon and oak.
