On the palate, that harmony swelled to a rafter-raising crescendo of charred oak, pickled ginger, coriander, liquorice root, chewing tobacco and leather; its sweetness (white chocolate, honey, molasses cake, barley sugars) seemed more subdued. The reduced nose discovered Sauternes, brandy-macerated plums and fruits of the forest jam.
