The palate was a dense and rich affair that displayed brazil nuts, jam on oatcakes and the seductive spices of cloves, star anise and crystalised ginger dipped in dark chocolate. A dash of water delivered further dried fruits and nuts but now with cashews and satsumas mixing with orange chocolate, toasted oak and fresh hops. The palate was treacly and creamy with hints of pedro ximenez sherry in lapsang souchon tea and green herbs that joined bergamot and peppermint on the finish.
