The palate was deep, rich, warming and exotic – orange sherbet, dates and figs, toasted coconut, dried apricots and pineapple – divine tingles of wood and spice later. The reduced nose – Charentais melon, sherbety flying saucers, tarte tatin and tobacco. The palate – apricot jam and spiced marmalade, with dry ginger and liquorice to finish.
