The neat taste was immense, intense and mouth-drawing – woody and dry but with the considerable sweetness of toffee apple sticks, churros dipped in chocolate, candy corn, maple syrup pancakes, crystallised oranges and port over ice-cream. In reduction, the nose evoked a sweet factory built with wood, stewed fruits, brown sugar, apples, pears and piña colada.
