Aged 20 years and peated to 40ppm phenols, this is a robust and expressive malt that combines richness and intensity with poise and precision. Very few malts capture the sense of place that this cask does. We envy those fellow Society members who secure a bottle! Next, we head due east across the North Sea to Denmark for \u003cstrong data-mce-fragment=\"1\"\u003eCask No. 141.2 Prowling the undergrowth\u003c\/strong\u003e. Scotland meets Scandinavia in a most delicious way! A combination of malted barley from the UK and barley malted locally with fresh nettles picked from the surrounding forest creates a distillate that’s oily and complex. Microscopic yields from this distillery make any offering a special occasion. Share this with someone who enjoys an old school Highland style. With water we found marmite, Twiglets, malt syrup and heady notes of tiger balm. The unique complexity and concentration of heavy peat at a mature age. The neat palate opened with a rush of seaweed and pure iodine. Camphor, tree moss, Elastoplast, embrocation, seawater, resinous peat smoke, carbolic acidity and smoked tobacco leaf. Certainly, plenty of heat on the palate neat but beyond the spice plenty of goodness; Ovaltine, salted caramel, cape gooseberries, treacle and plenty of tropical fruits like mango and passion fruit. Water added a pleasant oakiness combined with gorse and heather as well as candied sweets and fruit pastilles while to taste charred pineapple, mango coulis and chocolate oranges.
